Poker Playing Styles

There are many different ways of playing the game of Poker, but it is safe to say that there are two major styles on which most, or all, other styles are based. Before I discuss these two playing styles, I will discuss randomness, which is a great ally to have on your side, if played out correctly.

Random Poker Play

Randomness is one of the strongest tactics available in Poker. It helps you surprising the opponents and will improve your game.

Aggressive Poker Play

Aggressiveness is a style of play often used in the Poker world. It will scare off opponents and will make sure you are leading the game that is played. Read more about Aggressive Poker Play

Tight Poker Play

The other major playing style is tight play. This playing style is almost the exact opposite of aggressive play. If played out correctly it will also throw off any opponents, but at smaller risks. Read more about Tight Poker Play

As a final note: Poker is a gambling game, so following your instincts is not a bad thing. Play the way you enjoy it the most, but if you’re on a mission for money, I suggest you follow the guidelines I have given you here. Still in that case your instinct can be money; every great player out there is a gambler at heart, so he will once in a while take a gamble.
